One cannot help but wonder what an attitude adjustment you might have should the Russians decide to take over the 51st state. You just might return to reality once again?

can you please explain what this gobbledygook means? First of all, the 51st state is located in D.C. Secondly, if you are referring to the Americans attacking Canada, what exactly is the "reality" to return to you are referring to?

I think we would find that to be really common among canadian seniors who choose to spend most of their time in Florida, Texas, Arizona, etc.

My parents had booked a month in Florida in a gated community complex thing where a bunch of their friends hang out every winter (everyone is early to mid 60's), and pretty much all of their buddies who stay down there all winter are at least Maga lite. To my parents credit, the first thing my dad did when he got home was asked me to source a place in Bucerias for him next winter because they're not interested in going back. Their friends are all people who summer in the Muskoka's anyway.

It was an offhanded joke about us (Canada) being the 51st state. Meaning if Canada was invaded by Russia our only hope would be relying on the USofA and its current Commander In Chief Donald J Trump.

I fully believe it. I still have a hard time coming to grips with how many people I work with that are full on Maga... And we are about 20 minutes outside of Pittsburgh.

Offhand? He's repeated it several times and continues to call Trudeau "governor."

But of course ... Trump never actually means what he actually says. There's always some interpretation.

I consider myself of average intelligence at best and even I am capable of discerning between silly rhetoric and real intention. The one and only way Canada becomes a part of the US is via referendum...at least while Trump is in office. To come to any other conclusion i stretching reality to say the least.
 
Btw...seeing as how this thread is now more or less done. As I was reading the accumulated wisdom of all participants I had a thought go through my mind. As it is about to be The Sabbath I thought I would share it as it has a slightly religious overtone. FWIW :)

What If…?

What if GOD feels loneliness? Our Creator is eternal, something we cannot even understand. He created us in HIS image, meaning we have thoughts and feelings just as HE does. Who could endure such an isolated existence – and for eternity? We need companionship, we seek companionship/acknowledgement, so why would GOD not? In this sense is HE not even more Human than we are?

How long did Our GOD endure this isolation before creating the host of Heaven, such as, Archangels/Angels/Cherubim/Seraphs/etc. Is this why HE created them? But these beings exist with GOD and so they cannot have any sin in them. So, GOD created them without freewill. They can only do GOD’s bidding and therefore cannot sin. But is that enough for our Merciful Father?

What if GOD wanted, no NEEDED, a closer relationship with HIS creations? The only way that this could happen is with freewill. The ability to choose what is right or wrong in GOD’s eyes. HE could not allow freewill in Heaven so perhaps the Earthly Creation we see as our reality was HIS conscious choice to achieve this goal. How much better is it to have us willingly seek out and know our Heavenly Father than to be surrounded by the equivalent of automated robots? Would this not make us greater than the Angels? Don’t get me wrong, Angels are powerful beings but like everything in existence - that power comes from GOD.

If that’s the case, then our overriding purpose in life is to draw as close as we humanly can to GOD before our deaths. In a nutshell, to befriend GOD if you will. Clearly not as equals though. We achieve this by admitting that Creation is all HIS doing and submitting to HIS instructions in The Torah (re the OT). We use the gift of freewill to elevate ourselves spiritually. But to what end?

What if, by bowing to GOD and establishing a deep and abiding relationship HE allows us to not only live forever at a future resurrection, but HE also allows us to switch between a physical/material existence, for our life on Earth and a spiritual body so that we could actually go to Heaven and see GOD up close. How cool would that be?

What if……….

Ever think that perhaps, due to your average intelligence, at best, your interpretation is wrong? To be so confident while also being aware of your limitations seems foolish.

Honest question, how do you know which Trump statements to take at face value and which ones to put your interpretations on?
