A lot of players have clauses in their contracts which forbid them to partake in physically dangerous activities away from the rink or field. It's about protecting your asset. Now if a football player blows a knee out playing softball, the team just voids his contract. But in other leagues with guaranteed contracts the team still has to pay the guy.

If Matthews busts his knee during a Wednesday night mid-season game against Buffalo, that's a shame. If he busts his knee playing a 4 Nations game against Finland a month and a half before the playoffs?

US has only won once in best v best, the 1996 World Cup. Right now, it seems their goaltending and defence is stronger but our forwards are stronger. I don't see much to fear from Finland obviously and Sweden, meh. Gotta admit, given NHLers have not faced off against each other internationally (I don't count IIFH World Championships as not all the best can be there) since 2014, it will be a good appetizer for Turin next year.

And again, like the last 2 times, I won't be getting banned for any actual breach of any actual rules, but merely because certain people do not like to be confronted with uncomfortable truths with which they disagree.

Fortunately the only Habs player taking part is Montembault, who probably wont dress. And if he does and gets hurt? Meh. He's not part of the future and we arent going to the playoffs anyway.
