Lots of teams blow 3-1 series leads. Is Boston losing to Florida worse or even as bad as the Leafs blowing the same lead to the Habs in 2021? The 2021 Habs weren't even a legitimate playoff team. The coaches of the 3 teams they beat during that run should have all been fired immediately afterwards. In all, it's happened 32 times so it's far from impossible.

Home ice ain't what it used to be. Most teams spend more of their time at a practice facility than in their own barn and rinks today are all pretty generic and uniform when it comes to the dimensions of the playing surface, the height of the glass, etc. so home ice doesn't really afford you an advantage. Look at the fluke goal the Kings got last night. In the old days only the home team would know how the boards and glass in their own rinks behaved and where the dead spots were. Not anymore.
