GDT #8 - 2023/10/28 - TOR @ NSH 7pm - LoF Revenge Game

I picture every 3v3OT loss as a terrific rush chance that results in a great scoring chance, followed by a great save while Marner either falls down, or gets trapped behind the opponents net and the puck going the other way for an easy game-winner.

I don't think it's the players, they just don't coach it very well IMO.

Didn't someone say last season that they didn't practice for 3 on 3 at all?

Or was that the shootout?

OT Record Since Kampf joined the Leafs:

With Kampf Starting: 6-3-4
W/O Kampf Starting: 7-13-4

huh.

Kampf started his first OT for the leafs after they had just lost 6 OTs in a row in 5 weeks. Since his first time playing OT for the leafs, the leafs have only played 1 OT without him playing 3v3 - they lost that OT to the bruins.

When Kampf plays 20 seconds or more - basically, when he loses the draw - Leafs are 1-2-3.

In other words, 1 OT win in 6 games. In other words, if he loses the draw and ends up staying out, we don't win in OT.

When he seemingly wins the draw and gets off quickly (less than 20 seconds), we're 5-1-2.

So, really, it's all about winning the faceoff, and not about him staying on to defend against the faceoff loss (that he is responsible for). And if it's all about winning the faceoff, you should put your best faceoff guy out there, who happens to be one of your best offensive forwards, rather than the defensive guy who can't contribute to scoring if his life depended on it but is contributing to losing or going to SO 5 out of 6 times when he gets stuck out there.

Anyway, back to exile.

14sec and 16sec shifts would be lost draws.

So 3-2-3 when he loses the draw.

3-1-1 when he wins the draw.

So wait…is the non-LOF argument being made here that it’s actually a good idea to put David Kampf out there for 3-on-3 OT?
