Shanaplan has not produced a Cup, but it's far from an "unmitigated disaster".

Disaster would be whatever the Sabres have done, or tried to do.

Heh, tanked for one season, drafted probably the best Maple Leafs ever haven't missed the playoffs since.
Making the playoffs every year makes this so painful. At least sabres fans think there's no hope.

He's been going through some health issues I think. A few years ago he had an interview where I thought he was weeks from death. Then next time I saw him he looked fine. Looks rough again, and all swelled up (typical side effect of some medication). Of course it could be alcohol but I've always suspected some on and off health issues there over the last few years.

The only reason it's not a disaster is that drafting got them Matthews, Marner, and Nylander in short order.

We've wasted around a decade of their careers with this shit now. They're partially responsible themselves, but we can't roll into the playoffs pretending like Baboon and Ed are dmen on a contending team. This is pathetic.

Well if simply qualifying for the playoffs is the goal then yes, the Leafs have been successful. It's my mistake for incorrectly assuming that you wanted to actually win championships. Carry on, then.

Prednisone.

The d jumping in the play are what create odd man situations. Or when you have a threat back there when you're getting offensive zone time and the opposition can't just leave him open without concern, creating more space for everyone. How many times have we seen Eddy or Boosh left wide open at the point? They don't even have to cover them. It's a far different game when everyone on the ice is at least somewhat dangerous. You're almost playing short handed offensively when you're trying to hem them in their zone when you've got a bunch of grenade chuckers back there that can't do anything but dump it in the corner when they get the puck.

The team has excellent forwards but in the playoffs against elite teams it's not that easy to score at a high rate without some real talent on the back end. Not to mention the fact that none of them are elite defensive stoppers either.

This is such a horseshit argument, and ALWAYS the one that Sens/Habs fans like to toss around. Of course I want them to win a Cup, but there are a bunch of steps required to make that a reality, and yes "qualifying for the playoffs" is kind of important.

Don't hear much about the Habs being an "unmitigated disaster" year after year, even after losing in the COVID CUP FINALS. Weird.

Leafs need to fix the required steps because its not working in the playoffs

D needs an overhaul of talent and too much $ tied to few players when 16 jumps to 12 mil , even with JT gone

Trev has a ton of work to do and zero margin of error

Habs are in a total rebuild , no issue with the process
