GDT: Canes @ Rangers 4/26 7:00

The nhl,is gonna have to do something. They can’t have 2 southern teams from the East in the playoffs And 2 of them are conference winners.
I have a solution for that. Bring back the Southeast Division ... which they never should have done away with in the first place.

The last few minutes last night might not have gone the way you'd want, but I seem to recall somebody pointing out just how good NYR are with the goalie pulled. They've been doing that all year. Otherwise, that was fairly flawless. Looking at the GameScore numbers, the Canes just put the freaking hammer down almost across the board. Fox and Kreider were the only Blueshirts to make any significant impact on the game while all but two Canes players were on the plus side. They went on the road to one of the tougher road venues in the league and pulled out 67% of the expected goals share. A comprehensive beatdown. Bottom line ... Carolina is just a better team and absolutely deserves this Division title. They proved it over the season and in the head to head. NYR may have better goaltending, but while that means a lot it doesn't mean everything.

Panerin leaving the game early certainly dented the Rangers offensive abilities. He was all kinds of slippery last night.

Yeah, he always is ... but he didn't generate much in the way of quality chances. Fox and Kreider did most of their effective work.

A lot of his slippery seems to be pointless. I mean sure he turned Slavin around out by the blue line but to what end?

Yeah, he can be as slippery as he wants on the perimeter. If it doesn't lead to a scoring chance, what's the point?

Yeah. They got lucky to get that breakaway goal after getting DOMINATED by the Canes in their d zone against their top pair. Could have easily been a Canes goal in that sequence instead of their breakaway goal.

Once again punished for not getting the puck deep. That and neutral zone turnovers gonna kill ya.
That was more of our guys smelling blood in the water and going in for the kill. I think it’s a challenge with younger offensively talented guys. They’re not thinking about the risks. Jarvis knew all he had to do was beat that double team to get another grade A chance. He did get hooked. Confidence is good but he’ll learn to know when or when not to go for it.
