Hughes would have been nice. The KK screw up really cost the Habs
Need another Demidov type prospect this year.
I agree it's pretty rare. I also think that the favorable conditions for it to happens, where both the team and player have an interest to resign, and the team is out of the playoffs picture early, are also fairly rare. The only player that I've actually seen that happen with was Keith Tkachuk & the St. Louis Blues. I'm sure there are other examples, but it's so infrequent.
If he was available and willing, then sure. Why not.
maybewell in 3 yrs, our rebuild will be 50% over
I was being sarcastic, I have absolutely no desire to be the Ducks, Sabres, Sharks, Senators, and Devils from what 2010=2022 where you are absolute crap for 10 years.maybe
patience and more patience , year 3 of 5 minimum for the great gut jobI was being sarcastic, I have absolutely no desire to be the Ducks, Sabres, Sharks, Senators, and Devils from what 2010=2022 where you are absolute crap for 10 years.
There is an old adage that a GM with the best prospect pool after 5 years is a fired GM.

I dont ever remember the Habs in a total gut job rebuild ?
This isnt the NFL with many ways to work around a capthe problem with your types is that the rebuild keeps getting longer and longer, no team should take 5 years to gut a team and then another 5 to be decent. That is expecting way too much out of fans even for a fuck the fans type. No way Hughes wants to be out of the playoffs his entire reign. Draft well fine, but you need to try to get better other ways too. We cannot sit on our hands in free agency again next July, and trades have to be for more than just draft picks and over the hills players who want out of contracts.
Devils are an example of a reconstruction doing fairly well and they’re on year 8 after drafting Hischier first overall.not expecting/accepting the team being crap for ten years is not wanting a miracle.
Rebuild is over when its overnot expecting/accepting the team being crap for ten years is not wanting a miracle.
Bingo and this is year 3 for usDevils are an example of a reconstruction doing fairly well and they’re on year 8 after drafting Hischier first overall.
It takes time.
Jack Hughes didn’t start putting his game together till his 4th NHL season…Devils are an example of a reconstruction doing fairly well and they’re on year 8 after drafting Hischier first overall.

Even longer for Hischier.Jack Hughes didn’t start putting his game together till his 4th NHL season…
What's the difference? Rebuild takes as long as your new core is ready to take the next step.so is that a rebuild takes yrs or just those guys took too long?
problem then is you might have 2 yrs to compete before 1st batch is too old or too expensiveExcept for superstars, it takes about 4-5 years for players to develop.
Yes, it's a very faulty process. Hopefully by then you have accumulate enough good young players to establish yourself at least as a challenger and augment your team with trades and free agents to contend. It's not fail-proof.problem then is you might have 2 yrs to compete before 1st batch is too old or too expensive
