Habs were in a conundrum, it's pretty hard to move away from Price in his prime, but the rest of the team was seriously lacking.
Norris trophy winner , there was a deal somewhere if not thoseWe didn't say no. We had a deal with Edmonton for Draisaitl and 4th overall, it's Edmonton that changed their mind with Puljujarvi feel to them.
A regime with a functioning brain should have seen his body was breaking down way before this albatross 8 year extensionHabs were in a conundrum, it's pretty hard to move away from Price in his prime, but the rest of the team was seriously lacking.
I like how clairvoyant you are but when he signed he was just coming off playing 62 games and finishing 3rd for the Vezina. And he had one minor injury in the next 3 seasons after signing.A regime with a functioning brain should have seen his body was breaking down way before this albatross 8 year extension
Simply too scared to move him and face the backlash ...brutal asset management
He already had hip and knee issues before thatI like how clairvoyant you are but when he signed he was just coming off playing 62 games and finishing 3rd for the Vezina. And he had one minor injury in the next 3 seasons after signing.
Fixed , I remember the surgeon was mentioning what he tore or stress to that tissue was going to be arthritic and surgery couldnt fix it at some pointObviously you and I have no idea what was the condition of his knee at the time, but if there was legit concerns about his knees, and they have a full team of doctors to figure it out, and yet they still signed him to a 8 years contract then they're idiots. But I have a hard time believing they did this without consulting with the medical team.
team missed the playoffs the year after and lost in round 1 a year after before the great declineafter getting to semi finals in 2014 and QF in 2015, there was no reason to ditch the team after 2016. It appeared to be just an off year. Bergevin blew it at the 2017 deadline when we were a top team and he did nothing.
Yes another missed one and RJ might have stayed healthy with usShould’ve traded Galchenyuk pick for Ryan Johanssen - not the ideal panacea but he’d have helped for a few seasons
2017 would have been a good year to retool honestly.team missed the playoffs the year after and lost in round 1 a year after before the great decline
Whatever window they had was over and the great retool should have started
This wasnt a gradual decline , 18 wheeler soon fell off the cliff
tell me, in what world does a team that finished first in the east decide to gut the team?team missed the playoffs the year after and lost in round 1 a year after before the great decline

When the decline was the year latertell me, in what world does a team that finished first in the east decide to gut the team?
Offseason was awful and injuries to Price and Weber (only 26 games) didn't help. Had MB not messed up the 2017 summer (or development overall), we might have made the playoffs a few more times. When the decline was the year later
Yup , unfortunately too many boxes didnt check right to steer the ship betterOffseason was awful and injuries to Price and Weber (only 26 games) didn't help. Had MB not messed up the 2017 summer (or development overall), we might have made the playoffs a few more times.
We rebounded the season after with 96 points but still missed the playoffs due to our horrendous PP. 5 on 5 we were one of the best team in the league that year. Then we had the 2 pandemic seasons and that was it.
Because the GM was too sensitive to criticism from the Francophone media jackals. Our current competent Anglophone management doesn't give a shit if Reggie Tremblay or Jean-Guy from Berthierville is pissed off or impatient.A regime with a functioning brain should have seen his body was breaking down way before this albatross 8 year extension
