He also seemed rather composed and calm in the short clip I saw of him speaking later. Calmer than I am even thinking about the shit show that ensued.

Because he has no expectations placed on him or his team yet. The expectations were "in the mix" and he is there. If the expectations from management and ownership were higher then he wouldn't be so calm.

I don't really have a problem with that part of it because putting higher expectations on them with their current capabilities lead to mistakes in rebuilding like in Buffalo and Detroit.
