GDT | Game 56 | VS Sabres | Wednesday, February 21 | 7:00PM EST

you need to realize this "tanking" you keep preaching will be nothing but a 7 year blue ball session and at the end of the day, we won't win and you will be 65 before we make the playoffs again.
Only if you believe that HuGo is no better than Bergy-Timmins. I don't agree. I'll take competent anglophone management over hyper-sensitive, media-driven francophone management every day of the week.

I agree that Guhle is a shutdown type D man, but he could be a good one. Good wheels, mean and big enough.

From a team building perspective, I would tread carefully before moving Guhle. We lack that profile of D in the young group. Just him and Xhekaj, really. And if this team ever makes the playoffs again, he’s the kind of guy you want in the battles.

No way I include him in a trade for Zegras. Use different assets.

6-9OA pick will be sufficient

your faith in Hughes is stronger than your faith in Zelenskyy, not sure it's warranted. We might habe fewer points this year than last year.

I don't have faith in Zelensky, I have faith in the incompetence of the Russian military. And my faith IN HuGo isn't nearly as deep as my faith in the narrative that Bergy is an imbecile who was far too concerned with being liked by the francophone media.

And having fewer points than last year is a good thing. We want to pick as high as possible. If we aren't making the playoffs we need to be striving for 32nd place. Finishing 17th doesn't help us. If we can't be actually successful we need to succeed at failure.

then we failed doubly, didn't get better and not bottom of the league.

If that was what it took I'd give up Guhle for Zegras but not a first. Work something else out. If it had to be the late first then grab their second back in a swap since we don't have one. That seems fair.

Two reasons why I would move Guhle if it meant a 70/80 point guy coming back.

1) he's so overrated here. I sit and read the Guhle stroking and think that what you described in your post screams Reinbacher.

2) sell high now. I've got bad vibes about his longevity. If we didn't have a plethora of D coming up I'd think on it harder but we have that luxury.

I see this differently. There is no doubt in my mind that we need to make a trade for a young top 6 forward. What assets do we have to made that trade? Our 1rd pick, but we could also draft that guy with it. Otherwise it's pretty much Guhle or Xhekaj+.

We're not trading Hutson and I don't think Matheson can fetch us that guy.

(This was meant in response to those not seeing us resigning Matheson)

It's Guhle, organization likes Xhekaj a lot because of the no whining and coachability. That's really rare these days but he's a sponge and paid attention like Slafkovsky.

If I had to choose I send Guhle but then ask for a swap of late first and their second pick.
