Habs Acquire Joel Edmundson

Does anyone recall why we let Yzerman hire Julien BriseBois away from us?

Anyway, Matthieu Darche is part of the Tampa management team — will probably be a candidate to replace Bergy at some point.

If he can manage the way he hits a golf ball, we will win 3 titles .

Bogosian , Shattenkirk , all working for cheap , plus tons of players looking for work this offseason

Budgets are slashed , why give up a 5th when you can chat later with him

I don’t think teams were salivating to sign him

This move all but guarantees an overpay , he was lucky to get 2 years as a UFA IMO

Probably, but I wouldn't sweat the 5th rounder.

maybe. All I know is that every time MB makes a useless trade, half this board (occasionally myself) starts speculating that the deal must be the precursor to a bigger move. But that never happens. Will be happy to be proven wrong.

also like 90% of us think it is stupid and it turns out good

so who knows

but my initial reaction is... y tho?

If anything we will have probably the biggest meanest D in the league
Which might be why Bergevin did this if he really wants Krug. Beef up the D. Who knows, maybe he’s trying all this to lure Krug? The PP is atrocious and Krug would certainly help that.

I wonder if this is MBs real target to play with Weber & help PP at a more affordable price.

Well he’s decided nobody with any offensive talent will sign with the Habs so he’s building a bruising defense and got a solid backup. I’m thinking low scoring games.

Aaron Ward on TSN690 said Rod the bod expects every one of his Dman from 1-6 to play the same up tempo, rush the puck game and Edmundson not only provided the grit missing amongst the Canes C, he had no issues maintaining tempo and contributing offensively.

Mitch Melnick asked him why even during the season Ward thought Edmundson was a perfect fit for the Habs, says he was asked to play a stay at home style in STL, and Habs got a steal due to untapped potential, if they get him signed and suspects he wants term vs $.

the 90s called and want their hockey strategies back

I have no issue with a two year deal. I don't like giving up a pick to get him, but whatever.

I was worried that he'd be asking for a 4 year contract.

Nothing signed yet but I'd be good with 2 years too. Like Beaudoin says, it gives the prospects time to develop.
