Not intelligent, no. The franchise is finally trying to become modern. It's like applauding someone for taking their shoes off when they walk inside their house. Considering every other franchise in major markets has already something like this, but much more extensively than we have.

And yet other franchises have more off ice issues than the Habs.

Now THAT is what I call 4D chess, ninja level thinking right there. A world apart from how the old regime handled these things. Every team should have someone on the payroll who acts in the role that Wilford Brimley had in "The Firm". A so-called "fixer" who keeps the players in the sports pages and not in the gossip columns or the crime blotter.

Actually not “every franchise” ….that I’ve read/heard from podcasts about Jeremy Jacobs and Dolan refused to pay for similar hires. I don’t believe Make Beliefs have one either but don’t know that for a fact

It's not a panacea, obviously.

Virtually every single franchise in the NBA & NFL (I'll give you two guesses why, wink wink) has someone who does this.

Of course, stars have their own friends/associates who act like fixers

Hypothetical: It's a mid July night in Toronto and you end up at a bar where you see Sid Crosby doing a vodka shot. You take a photo so you can prove it to your buds. The photo is kind of blurry. Sid looks a little messed up. What do you think happens next?

One of Sid's posse comes up to you and says "If you delete that photo you just took, Sid will gladly pose for a selfie with you"

I've seen a lot of celebs out in the wild, and never thought of snapping a pic of them. Maybe the occasional hello if it doesn't seem intrusive.

I’ve met several over the years - last one was Brandon Graham about two weeks ago, and he was happy to take a pic with my son. I find that most of these guys like being celebrities/famous. Just be polite and brief.
