Alive? I'm still feeling the pain. I even remember the colour of the carpet in the TV room.Hard to care about the leafs when nobody alive has watched them win anything.

I'd still have rather seen the Nordiques win the Cup than the Leafs.nah the Nordiques were the ultimate enemy. Remember they were the true Quebec team, we cheered for the English jews
I'm still pissed about how the 1989 final turned out. Shit, I'm still pissed about the 1975 Grey Cup, ffs.Alive? I'm still feeling the pain. I even remember the colour of the carpet in the TV room.![]()
the Nordiques cost us the 1989 Cup because we lost to them 4 times, cost us home ice (well and our travel coordinator was ridiculous and had us flying overnightI'm still pissed about how the 1989 final turned out. Shit, I'm still pissed about the 1975 Grey Cup, ffs.
The Baun goal to win game 6 in OT against the Red Wings in 64 was my most painful memory in those days even though I had no affinity to Detroit-just a hatred of the Leafs. Maybe because if the Wings had scored, it meant the Cup would have been won by someone other than the Leafs. To that point, I had only ever seen Toronto win it. At least by 67, I had seen us win Cups in 65 and 66, and I never really felt good all year about 1967 edition of the Habs-something was off. When Baun scored in 64, I felt the series was over.I'm still pissed about how the 1989 final turned out. Shit, I'm still pissed about the 1975 Grey Cup, ffs.

Patrick Roy cost us the 89 Cup. He shit his pants every time Al MacInnis wound up to take a slapper. He also couldn't solve Gilmour.the Nordiques cost us the 1989 Cup because we lost to them 4 times, cost us home ice (well and our travel coordinator was ridiculous and had us flying overnight
Calgary was the better team that season. They finished ahead of us in the regular season too but it was close.Patrick Roy cost us the 89 Cup. He shit his pants every time Al MacInnis wound up to take a slapper. He also couldn't solve Gilmour.
If you want to get into the weeds it was the Canucks who cost us the Cup in 89. If Stan Smyl hadn't choked on that breakaway against Mike Vernon in overtime of Game 7 in the first round, we would have tap-danced to the Cup. No other team had a chance against us.
beczuse we lost 4 to Quebec We beat Calgary 2 of 3 in regular season.Calgary was the better team that season. They finished ahead of us in the regular season too but it was close.

89 is really my first Habs memory. Was too young in 86.
the issue with the Bruin rivalry is that for the last 10 yrs either we beat them all time or now they beat us all the time and there are no fights. The most annoying thing about them now is that their fans are still knuckle draggers who prefer fights and brawls to goals and wins. The rivalry with Nordiques burned the hottest...as it became wrapped up in identity politics. I know people who switched from Habs to Nords because they were sovereigntists.
It didn't last long though, and you'd have a hard time explaining it to anyone under 40.
Rivalries have expiration dates.
Even the Bruins rivalry is getting long in the tooth. We last faced then in the playoffs 10 years ago. Who knows when we'll face them next?
The rivalry is still in good shape....but 20 years from now, who knows?
Bought a hot tub, thought the time machine was includedget a fucking time machine dude
You missed a great riot...err...I mean party.89 is really my first Habs memory. Was too young in 86.
I lived among them and the delusion was a thing even then. I can't remember how many times I had to listen to some idiot classmate try to convince me that Sittler was better than Lafleur, that Turnbull (not even Salming, mind you, but Ian Fucking Turnbull) was better than Robinson or that Palmateer was better than Dryden. Ignorance like that is impenetrable. And then these dopes grew up and became subscribers of the Steve Dangle podcast.the issue with the Bruin rivalry is that for the last 10 yrs either we beat them all time or now they beat us all the time and there are no fights. Never having lived on Toronto, I never had the same deep seated hatred of them Wehave and others do. I hate their fans more (except Scottish Victoria who is nice). The thought of Zeke and his cabal having something over me makes me want an asteroid to hit.
