Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

there is a reason the players want big coin and will get as much as they can, without them, there is no product
Sure and they are getting fucken big coin

The ones you feel sorry for are the players from 50’s to 70s where they couldn’t retire on their salaries

Getting shitty pensions and probably crappy medical insurance

Now a shit plug on the fourth line can carve out 20 mil and retire happy

GEEMAN, nobody talks with as much conviction and determination about a topic in which they are so out of touch of and out of their element on than you are with this topic.

Quite literally every single one of your points are either farcical, conjecture or just flat out wrong.

You can count on one hand - one fucking hand!! - the amount of players in my lifetime that never made much and lost out on life changing money due to injuries. And this is why players like Slaf sign either? Please.

this discussion is a little needless...this ain't the 80s

today's players have elite guys optimizing their future earnings....of course, mistakes get made but not the obvious ones discussed here

I'm with Geeman on this one.

Performance and injuries definitely play a role in signing for less than optimal.

They made money already but had they gambled on shorter deals they all end up with less. Price, Weber (okay maybe not), Gallagher, subban.

Vanek sure wish he had taken that deal too.

There is examples on both sides. People are all different, some value security, some maximizing every dollar, others wants to win. Some are lucky to have all three, many don't. Crosby left ton of money on the table in his career, he seems fine with that. Good thing KK took the longer deal instead of betting on himself (because I guess he knew it wasn't a good bet).

There is no wrong or right answer , we simply disagree and that fine

One thing that is certain ....nobody can predict the future

How many players got fucked out of money during covid when budgets were frozen for 3 years

Like GW mentioned players make decisions that make sense for themselves

There is no doubt in my mind Hughes , Woll, and Guhle took their bag because injuries played a role in their decisions

Guhle tweaks something every 2 weeks , highly doubt he was going to bet on himself on a shorter bridge deal
