That’s a lot of assumptions there. 1) MB gets fired 2) The new regime in the offseason does nothing to improve the team 3) We finish the next season worse than Buffalo, Anaheim, SJ, Detroit, NJ and Columbus.

Here is my criteria for the playoff stats fraud

No PPG player
No double digit scorer
Near Zero D production
Our # 1C had 1 fucken goal and led the group in MPG ....Dano was great defensively but 1 goal .....

Not checking any stats on any other team but doubt anyone matches those totals

Panthers in 96 had 92 points , Habs in a normal world was barely on pace for 80 and never making the playoffs

The Habs were a mess late in the year and the future was bleak and was heading to a full gut job

Regime and coach were on their last legs

Cmon , team was not making the playoffs in a normal schedule

You dont go to the finals to the worst team in the league a year later and get the first pick unless you are flawed

I get the departures and injuries but nobody goes full titanic a year later

You said top 5 pick. A top 5 pick team doesn’t go to the finals. They would have likely missed the playoffs, but top 5 pick, no way.

Next year you had the Covid gifted 50 + game schedule and barely 500 in the worst division

We were fourth in the division and didnt face the rest of the league

A top 5 pick team doesn’t go to the finals holds no merit in this once a lifetime format
