Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

And then the schedule gets brutal.
There are no dominant teams in the Eastern Conf definitely not Atlantic Division - I expect Caps to goal back as did Canes & NYR after their horrid starts.

So I don’t worry about the competition, Fla / TBay etc, but the issue is not having an NHL worthy backup… and Jan has what 4-5 BTBs?

Primeau has not started a game at home yet this season.

Habs are 30th in save percentage. That will have to change if they actually want to be in the mix

The teams just ahead of us in the standings, those in the so-called mix, also play against one another. Some of them are thus guaranteed to take points and cannot be caught by the Habs even if we win all three games.

Well not good, they added 2 40 goals scorer and a defensemen that scored 47 last year.

Forsberg had 48 goals, 94 points last season and he's going on a 24G, 54 points season, the worst of his career.
Stamkos is going on a 21G, 42 pts season. his previous worst was 66 points, which is about what I was expecting of him this year.
Marchessault, 42 goals last year, a career year but going on 16G, 48 points.
Even Josi is down, going on 61 points after a 85 points season.

I'm surprised Brunette is still employed.
Forsberg and Josi had career type years doubt they do it again

The other 3 had great seasons but are by products of great teams and team fits and systems

There was zero chance all 3 produced at last years levels

Preds dont have a 1-2C to feed the redundant wingers

Habs win next 3GP they jump Buf & Det and likely get to within 4-5 pts of the herd.

It won’t happen overnight & doesn’t need to - wildcard teams this year likely will be .535 -.545 (88-90 pts)

A lot of the season is left to be played the goal IMO is to get & stay close to the herd over the next 2-weeks … give yourself a chance to stay in da mix
