Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Much harder to pull off this retool

Rangers are saddled with long term aging vet contracts
The rangers rebuild was concluded too soon. Gorton wanted to wait but ownership didn’t.

Their forward core is aging and it was never addressed outside of Laf and Kakko

Forsberg and Josi had career type years doubt they do it again

The other 3 had great seasons but are by products of great teams and team fits and systems

There was zero chance all 3 produced at last years levels

Preds dont have a 1-2C to feed the redundant wingers

Smart effective low prices vets are needed to manage the margins where blowouts become rare such as a backup goalie why didn’t we grab Reimer when he was there earlier in the season ?

I don’t think anyone is asking for Stamkos.

Kako is now rumored to be on the block. The Rangers aren't interested in waiting. The future is always now in NYC. They are in an oversaturated sports market. They need to be relevant all the time. So they will nearly always take the name player over the future prospect.

Gorton had a plan when he was in New York but Rangers ownership didn't want to hear it.

Ditto situation for Bruins..

Sure but all of them having the worst seasons of their career was unexpected.

Marchy is the surprise because he creates his own scoring chances , I figure he was good for 30

Canes have a system just like Florida where your fit is best on this team and Skeji was the right piece

Stammer was leaching off elite talent and PP , hasnt driven a 5/5 line in years

Plus all 30+ joining more aging vets ....would could go wrong

I do think Stamkos was the wrong acquisition for this team. Like you said, he's not much of a line driver/playmaker, which is what they needed.

yes

they asked him a pretty basic question

he's probably upset at HuGo for not sitting on their ass with regards to Primeau
Basic question yes, but also a trap question, which he didn't fall for. The answer was obvious, he just wanted to hear it from the coach mouth.

The answer to the trap question was also one of many rehashed answers.

Monty's the hot hand, he's been on a roll and we don't want to stop the momentum, etc.

Plenty of ways to answer that question without saying out loud what everyone thinks.

He definitely could have handled it better, and he usually does, but sometimes you just get annoyed. We're all humans. Well most of us.
