If you look at the advanced stats, we got out-goalied. One is clearly a vezina favorite and one is not. Simply as that.
On paper the Habs were the better team up front.

Oh for damn certain that Hellebyuk > Monty, in general and last game. But Monty had actually a good game, for him, and we should have lost 2-1, but he needed to be perfect to win this game, which he wasn't, but he made many clutch saves, especially in the second period.

Well I think it's more fair to compare him to himself rather than to Connor Hellebuyck.

Yes he wasn't shit yesterday but he was still average at best. I've said it a hundred times, he is what he is and my frustration stems from his clear overuse. It's on Marty. There is zero justification for not playing Dobes more. If Montembeault is back in net tomorrow I'll legit lose it.

This is a great article. Seems others agree that Dobes isn't some wilting flower that needs sheltered.Price may be an anti-vax gun nut, but he knows about goalies.

Montembeault is getting starts out of respect that is unearned imo. Sure he may be the nicest guy in the world but his play has not merited the devotion.

Other than the contract, I can see no valid reason for giving Monty the net for 80% of the starts. He hasn't played well enough to earn that.

I think they should ride the hot hand. Then when he loses switch. I do think Monty would be better with more rest.
