I don’t think HuGo were ready to move on from Mailloux …. I think they are now

Additionally, HuGo really wanted Hage with that 1st round pick being dangled for Zegras per Lebrun

Also, both MSL & Hughes coached Zegras in youth hockey and know the human being behind the player well, if they showed interest … would imply they’re not concerned about the perception that’s been floated out there.

Zegras’ trainer is MSLs long time trainer Ben Prentiss and is a rink rat like Hutson - eats, sleeps & breathes hockey

Marty does preach creativity. Doesn't like to stifle it. Hughes could just be driving the price down.

Yeah i like him a lot. Smart player, high compete, I could see NYR wanting to shake things up.

In my mind that’s not a bad thing, 4 years left at 5.5 isn’t bad. Wish he was a year or 2 younger but he’s a guy that makes others look better.

Not too expensive for a legit second line center though

The only caveat is that he’s another RH centre. I don’t think we have any lefties for next season.
