“Too strong for the AHL” is not the standard.There's no problem with having Cole ''hang out'' around the team on the taxi squad. The fact he started in Laval is a good thing....and if he seems to be too strong for AHL, i see no issues with calling him up. Having said that, he's only played a handful of AHL games...it's a bit too early to say he is too strong for AHL.
