Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Post trade deadline a team is allowed 4-regular recalls until AHL season is done. A team is allowed an infinite number of emergency recalls.

MB used 3-of his-4 recalls on deadline day, now have 1-left to add to the roster (presumably Evans or Caufield). After the use of that last regular recall, would only be able to recall someone in case of injury.

So it’s down to one of Caufield or Evans...

Why wasn’t Mete put on waivers prior to deadline day, did MB decide last minute on Monday?

Not saying the Hobbit will save this team, but if Habs miss the playoffs due to administrative error keeping them from using taxi squad support....forget all the other MB debatable errors, this classifies 100% as pure incompetency.
was trying to get a first rounder for him

This team is struggling to score goals in a big way. It's unforgivable to leave possibly the best goal scorer in the organization on the taxi squad if there's a way to bring him up.

My guess is they'll bring him up soon...Bergy ain't gonna hold back this year.

Anyway, I find this roster juggling completely confusing. So what happens when Gustafsson and Merrill come off quarantine? Will they become roster players?

So they will have all kinds of wiggle room on the backend, but none up front.

Don't you agree that it was ultra important to slightly upgrade our #7th d-man situation (from Mete) with two new guys???

I don't even know what they'll do with the new guys, what they're going to bench Romanov to play Merrill? How is that going to help?

The core of the team is Price, Weber, Petry, Gallagher, Drouin, Suzuki and KK.

Only Petry and Gallagher have been doing their job this year and one of those is injured right now (well two), which coincided with the recent collapse.

Supporting pieces like Anderson and Toffoli have been doing their part, while Danault and Tatar have been uneven. But really everything starts at the core.

Those 2 support pieces and Allen carried and saved our ass this season

They scored 1/3 of our goals and Allen saved us 10 points in the standings

That core simply isn't good enough and right now only Petry would be a core player on any contending team

However he has been crap for a month now , he isn't a 1D .

That's the thing... the core is not good enough to compete with the best teams.

Even though Bergevin went 4/4 this offseason (Toffoli, Anderson, Allen, Edmundson), this team is still a bubble playoff squad.

You need a few elite players. Otherwise, you're betting that everyone consistently plays at the height of their talent.
