Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Assuming Laine never got injured, I don't think this team's record would have changed more than one or two points. If that.

Laine's like Caufield, just a foot taller. He floats and doesn't bring much beyond offense. Laine being on the roster - remember, Columbus had to compensate us to take him by giving us their second round pick in next year's draft - would not have made our goalies better or improved the defensive structure.
Best version of Laine brings a lot more than Caufield. Defensively, it might be about equal.

I'm not sure he brings that much more at this point in his career, honestly.

He's been consistently missing chunks of seasons for multiple years in a row, so it's hard to project what he'd look like in an 82 game season, but he's a hair below being a PPG player. Caufield had a bad season last year and nobody would say otherwise, but he had a respectable statistical season, all things considered.

Habs got a second due to no cap retention , I agree 1-2 points at best

we'll see how Crazy Eyes Condotta fares in a month...a lot of these fringe guys (including Pezzetta) seem to do well when they first hit the show
