Need to tankenna for McKenna
They wouldn't have acquired Laine if that was actually the plan. Even a "meh" Laine would be a 25-25 guy, which on this roster would make a difference.

I don’t believe that to be the case.
Post Laine & dare is say Redenbacher injuries, I believe the interim plan transformed into staying afloat till Laine returns.
6pts from Wildcard & 7pts from 3rd in division w games in hand, potentially less as US Thanksgiving approaches meets that mandate.
HuGo would not have acquired Laine, or gone after Marchessault as UFA if tanking was the goal… never was & still isn’t

Laine was acquired to bridge the gap for a few years until Hage , Demigod and others are ready to truly help out
The Habs wont attract high end UFA`s and are not ready to throw stupid money on a player in a rebuild
Laine was the right fit , risk , and potential impact to give the team a boost .
Short term contract and simply walk away if it doesnt work .
Habs would need about 70-73 more points to make the playoffs , not happening

we will never win it all again, I have come to accept it. At least I can remember 6 championships even if I was very young for four of them. Expos died but I switched before they died to SF Giants so at least I have three from 2010-2014.

Like I said, NFL rebuilds can be fast - free agents and you can find immediate starters well into the 3rd and 4th rounds of the draft. Just need an actual GM not the current owner-clown to oversee it.
