Laval Rocket Thread

I've always been a big proponent of the ECHL. It has its uses.

If you have a late-round player, for example Michael Pizzetta, and he's not able to play every game because there are too many bodies on the AHL roster, there should be a way for players like him to play in the ECHL and get quality minutes.

The Trois-Rivière team is going to be largely Québécois players, which is fine with me. Most of them have no NHL prospect in their future, but it also gives players coming straight from the Q a chance to try their hand at pro hockey. There's going to be a lot of Québécois players getting opportunities with that franchise.
That will keep the francophone media jackals happy. Their belief is that the Habs aren't a business at all, just a make-work program for mediocre players and coaches with the right kind of surnames.

I think Joel was brought in in case the Bergevin regime wet the bed....which was looking imminent.

Now, it seems like MB and DD will get three year deals so why stick around if you're Joel?

if I'm Geoff, I use all the recent profits in Habs merch and pay Joel a ton of money to stay

Jo Jo should be offered AHL GM & coach - promo without sacrificing Habs prospect development

Depends what his ambitions are. If he wants to be a head coach in the NHL and there's interest in him, there isn't a clear path in Montreal. Ducharme's going to be the head coach for the foreseeable future.

I'm of the same advice, I'd do everything to figure out a way to get him to stay in Laval. Pay him whatever he needs.

If not, then shit. Fine. We'll have to find a new head coach to handle the player development.

I think he'll only leave to be an NHL head coach, in which case the organisation should encourage him I guess. Now that the Kraken, Rangers and Blue Jackets HC position are filled, is there any vacant spot left?

But yeah he's been a fantastic AHL head coach hopefully he stays.

Maybe, but Pascal Vincent left Winnipeg's organization to be an Assistant in Columbus. You'd think that Paul Maurice isn't long for Winnipeg and Pascal Vincent seemed like the incumbent there.

Who knows, though.

Vincent said he had 2 head coach interview. One of them was Jackets. Then they decided to offer him assistant coach job.

The Gabriel Bourque of 413 NHL games?

I mean...

Yanni Gourde is a late bloomer. Tampa Bay didn't find him, San Jose did. It took him nearly 5 full years in the minors before becoming a regular NHLer and then he exploded.

Sometimes players just get their shit together later in life.

And for every Yanni Gourde and Jonathan Marchessault (A player that Tampa Bay let go, btw), there are 50 Danny Massé's and Yannick Riendeau's.
