Leaf Rumours

Hagman will not get a first

I'd prefer NHL ready talent instead of a late 1st. Fans like you overrate 1st rounders more than anything. The chance of that late 1st becoming as good as Hagman is very small.

I hope we get young, cheap talent that can play in the NHL in return for him.

I can't wait until Patrick Sharp gets traded for a bowl of cock soup.

I think some team will overrate him.

There will be a team that thinks they're getting PPG Sharp. But unless that team has Toews and Kane like players for him to play with, they're getting a 60ish point guy.

Other than this stretch of PPG play, he's only ever been a 60 point guy with those two....

But that would be disingenuous of me to push that argument here when I've argued against it so hard at other times. I don't think Kane & Toews have anything to do with Sharp being a 30/30 type winger.

If someone over rates him, then I pity the fool....but he shouldn't have much more trade value than Hagman at all.

Nah. Sharp is better than Hagman. And younger.

Hagman's never been a 30/60 guy.

The Hawks have less leverage though.

They might not have an effect in him being a 30/60 guy, but they may have an effect in him being a 40/80 guy.

Sharp is better defensively than Hagman
Sahrp can play all three forward positons
Sharp brings leadership qualities
Sharp isnt a pussy....

and the O'Brien and Campoli arguments were made last year when you meatheads claimed Nik would get a first, and he didnt.

Hagman also wont get a first

Nik was a UFA.

Hagman is signed to a reasonable contract -- he's not a rental.

Big difference.

He's better than Chris Campoli.

debatable. Campoli was still a young dman with promise at the time. Also wasnt there more elements to that deal?

Also, i dont buy that teams are going to want to add any term, despite Hagman's apparant reasonable contract

At the time of the trade, Campoli was a middling bottom pair defender. With Ottawa, he's still a middling bottom pair defender.

His 'term' is also very reasonable as he only has two years left after this one.

Hagman has scored 27 goals (or a 27 goal pace) the last two years. He is only 30, and is signed at a reasonable price for a ~30 goal scorer.

Pretend all you want, but he has value.
