I don't want to see Rielly traded under any circumstances. However, this is missing a key feature of Giroux's value - he's been a consistent ppg player since he was 22 (the stats you post as "22" ... he was actually 21 for half of that year). That's a very high value player right there and something Kadri has yet to show he can do.
Perhaps the more important stat you've missed is the faceoff stats. Giroux >>> Kadri on faceoffs.

Just thinking about centre possibilities...Marcel Goc might be an option. veteran player, pretty good faceoff guy, can score a few points, and is in the last year of a 1.7m/season contract.
He could be a stopgap for this season while Bolland is out, and shouldn't cost too much to acquire. The Panthers have Huberdeau/Barkov and now Bjugstad moving up the ranks and might be willing to move him.

we only have 6 games until bozak eligible to come back(Nov 21st i believe) with 2 vs buffalo and 1 vs NJ
Not sure we need to make a move at this point, just hope that we can sustain ourselves until we get one of them back at least

I dunno, we have to do something. Not necessarily a trade, but giving Jay McClement and Trevor Smith 2nd and 3rd line center minutes even just for six games is going to get pretty ugly. It could be more than six games too---November 21st is only the day Bozak's eligible to come off IR. We still don't know much about the nature of his injury or what exact time-line we're looking at.
Either one of our wingers (JVR, Kessel or Raymond) has to temporarily move into center ice and do a passable job at it, or we've got to make a move. Whether it be a trade, free agent signing or an emergency call-up of one of our CHL players.

I would never shift around one of the main guys like Kessel or JVR to another position. If we have to convert someone I'd go with Raymond for sure.

Raymond played about 20-30 games as a center a few years ago as a Canuck and did a passable job at it. Sure it was a sheltered role, but he has always been a defensively responsible forward (and it's not like he had a couple of solid wingers - a Leafs strength - to shield him at the time).
Not a long-term solution of course; but should be good enough to "hold the fort" until Bozak is healthy to play.

McKegg's had a rough start to the year (1pt in his first 5gms...and it came on an empty net goal), but since Smith was called up he's got more icetime and started to put up some numbers (3pts in 4gms). Might not be the worst idea in the world, even though he's not a longterm solution as of yet.

I'm just not confident in anyone else in the organization's ability to play with offensive players. I mean Jay McClement does good, honest yeoman's work but he just doesn't have the offensive instincts.
I'd rather see McKegg playing with Clarkson and Lupul than McClement if I'm being honest.

mcclement is a weird player.
the guy has solid hockey sense... he's always in the right spots, he knows where to be on the ice, he knows how to take away ice in the d-zone, and he knows how to get into good areas to get chances in the offensive zone. and his hands are good enough that he can effectively skate the puck out of his own zone, and even pull some moves in the neutral zone to gain centre.
but he just ****ing sucks with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone.

i'm not a huge fan of giving guys a shot who haven't earned it... but they're pretty desperate. and their wingers are all ****ing horrible on the draw.

Totally untrue. This is some exaggeration that's become even more exaggerated with each person chiming in.
The guy plays with plugs like Orr all game, and then is out on the PK. He has zero opportunity to show anything, but when he does get a shot here and there on the rush, he definitely looks a lot more capable offensively.
He could easily be a third line center on most teams in the league. But he's the best fourth line center in the game.

Man, I love McClement, and really appreciate what he can do shutting down the opposition, penalty killing, and just his general competence on our own side of centre.
But he's a black hole offensively. He can cycle well enough, but he just seems to completely lack any kind of offensive instincts. Isn't his career high in point like 30 or something?
