Leaf Rumours

Not really. Colborne's no more an NHL-calibre center than Greg McKegg is at this point, so we'd still be in the same predicament.

I'm not sure if Colborne is the same as McKegg ... mainly because McKegg has been a disappointment as well ... but yeah, neither is really borderline NHL material at this point.

I think it isn't so much we lost Colborne, but more in the same summer we lost Grabovski, Colborne, Hamilton and Zigomanis.

That's 4 centers that we lost through different means, and the only replacement is Smith ... 'nuff said.

Only when we lost 2 centers to injury we realize we're really really thin among C's.

If what you're trying to say is that we lost depth at center in the summer, I can't really agree. Grabovski was replaced with Bolland. Hamilton is a winger. And Colborne and Zigomanis are no better than Trevor Smith and Jarred Smithson. All of them are AHL-calibre centers, and I wouldn't want any of them logging any kind of serious minutes at the NHL level.

Well it isn't for Kessel, because he doesn't play down low defensively. But they spend plenty of time in their own end that someone has to do it.

JVR is going to have to be a responsible center.

Lupul >

“It was tough on me,” said Carlyle. “I only did four [laps]. They just said, ‘If we’re going to skate, why don’t you skate.”

Of course, not everyone realized that the reason the coach was red in the face was because he was bag-skating.

“Was he taking some laps?” Joffrey Lupul asked. “Good for him. I wondered why he was sweating. I thought it was from yelling.”

The buds, for the most part, realize they've been cheating in W's and then when they finally lose (badly) in Vancouver they know it's just bad habits catching up with them.

I'm glad they lost a bad game, and not just a 2-1 loss or something ... I hope they get the message.

it is November = worst month for this team for years, just hope we will hold on to playoff spot
