Leaf Rumours

Voynov is a #4 defender at this point, Toffoli a top 9 forward, and Jones is an unknown, despite looking really good in the AHL for the last few years and being spectacular in 10 games this season.

I don't know if I'd call that a top 8 prospect group though, even with Toffoli & Voynov there's some ceiling issues there.

But yeah, we're clearly over rated in that year as well, which is a bit shocking. I guess some of the prospect people got tired of how poorly they rated the Kadri, Reimer prospect group of ours.

I don't really ever care about those prospect ratings, good or bad. I mean, just putting Joe Colborne ahead of Gardiner...it is to laugh.

And Voynov is actually the Kings #2 defender, playing 22 minutes a night.

And just looking at the Kings current roster Kopitar, Brown, Doughty, King, Voynov, Toffolli, Nolan, Martinez, Vey, Clifford, Lewis, Quick and Jones are all Kings draft picks. 13 out of a 23 man roster is pretty solid.

In comparison the Leafs have Kadri, Rielly, Kulemin, Gunnar and Reimer.

yeah, the Leafs best players are brought in from outside, but that's nothing unusual with this franchise. hopefully guys like Rielly and Kadri can start breaking that pattern.

still waiting for us to draft a superstar..any round is fine...one of these days...

I don't think Franson gets nearly enough credit for how physical he can be. I've seen him level countless guys. He's got great offensive abilities, he's huge and he can throw a hit. It's not that far fetched to think that, especially at his age, he still holds significant value to a lot of teams. Most assume that actual defensive abilities can be taught.

There are only 5 guys like that in the league. And who really cares if you drafted them or not? Either you have them or you don't. Or if you're pittsburgh you have 2 of them ..... ;)

They weren't given a ball. Every team was given a proportionally different number of balls inverse to where they finished in the standings for several years prior to that.

There were hundreds of balls involved.

What made Pittsburgh lucky was losing the Ovechkin draft the draft previous and taking Malkin instead. If they get Ovi, they lose 1 of the 3 balls they had in the Crosby lottery.
