Leaf Rumours

Guaranteed that everyone on this board will agree on one thing next year. That Kadri is the most entertaining shit disturber to ever wear the blue and white. Absolutely ridiculous that this guy was NOT on the team this year. If he was, we would NOT have traded for PISSEL. SCHITT and PISSEL.

Mentioned in the GDT that a caller to Leaftalk said he'd heard a rumour about a 7-player trade between Toronto and Dallas. Must have been talking about this one, will be interesting to see who's involved if it goes down. I'd certainly have some interest in Richards or Turco, not sure about Ribeiro because I echo some previous comments: he's good, but **** I really hate that guy.

7 players??? 3 for 4??

the only three leafs that I could see in play... Poni Stajan and maybe White or as mentioned earlier a defensive prospect (Gunnar?) for ?? It couldn't be a big move of three big players like Richards Turco and or Ribiero.

So I think it could be 2 players and 2 picks... therefore a major salary dump.

Turco because I think the leafs dont see gustavsson as the short term answer and bring someone in to help mentor him ...

Hey hab fans, did you love him when he was on your team???

We liked his skill but when he dove at centre ice so dramatically that one time many fans were completely turned off. He has a ton of talent but many holes in his overall game...buyer beware IMO.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars might be thinking about a trade that would send Mike Ribeiro and a draft pick north to Toronto.

This rumor comes via Hendricks Hockey, and in exchange, the Leafs would send Matt Stajan and a defensive prospect.

Stajan has long been on the block, while Leafs GM Brian Burke has been seeking draft picks in return for any player. This trade might also have an element of money involved. Burke said he's be willing to take on salary if he gets a better deal, so the Stars might be looking to dump cash in this exchange.

Ribeiro:

This season:
43 gms, 10 gls, 33 pts (82 gms, 19 gls, 63 pts)

Last 2 seasons:
125 gms, 32 gls, 111 pts (82 gms, 21 gls, 73 pts)

Last 3 seasons:
201 gms, 59 gls, 194 pts (82 gms, 24 gls, 79 pts)

Despite his on ice antics, he's produced really well over the last 2-3 seasons. He's on a slower pace this year, but if he can produce in the 70ish point range, he's very good value for 5 mill a year. And he could be a really good set up man for Kessel.

I'm little concerned about his pace this year though. I don't want the 55-60 point Ribeiro.

If he can play in that 70-80 point range then his $5mn cap hit compensates for the fact that he's a big pussy and plays like a homo.

I just don't see this guy being part of a Brian Burke team, though. That's like an oxymoron.

It also makes me wish they had just signed Havlat, who has some of the same deficiencies as Ribeiro but more talent, for the $5mn Minnesota handed him this summer.

A 70-80 point, playmaking center, who pisses off the other team is a steal at $5 million.

This is a guy who averaged 55 assists over the last 3 seasons. Isn't that exactly what this team needs?

Hey hab fans, did you love him when he was on your team???

If he had been producing like a 80 points player in Montreal I'm pretty sure everyone would have loved him.

If you can get him for an UFA Stajan, you do it fast, IF you can get him because the deal doesn't really make sense.

Ribiero is awesome. He is a legit #1, ppg center who gets under the oppositions skin.

He's also very entertaining to watch. His hands are something else. If I was a fan of this year's Leafs I'd pray we get Ribeiro just to make it a bit fun to watch that team.

This guy could be a good point scorer but you just dont rebuild a shitty team with a player who has a history of diving and unsportsman like behavior.

that rumoured deal i can live with....but only because Matty is UFA.....and I have a sneaing suspicion that Nieuwy has his eyes on White.

and just so everyone remembers - Ribeiro was a 50-60pt type play until he was 27.

Stajan is 25.

But something has to be said for the fact that Ribeiro actually took that next step. Sure Stajan might. But he might not. Right now Ribeiro is just a better player. And I'm as high on Stajan as anyone here.
