Leaf Rumours

Lots of people have said Clarkson to Toronto. And they are right. Anything can happen to screw it up, but he loves Toronto and has a great relationship with Wendel Clark. Wendel has helped his career along for years.

And guys, he is NOT going to sign for 3 or 4 million. This guy is a beast, a player who can make a whole team better. Think of Jay McClement with much better offensive instincts and muscle. In my opinion, every team in the NHL wants him. No question.

I mention MClement because McClement is a guy who made us so much better in so many ways, except scoring. But passion, guts, hustle, smarts, opportunism etc... McClement is a freaking hockey guys hockey player. Same deal for Clarkson in my opinion. Just a must have guy.

Now that I think of it, I am surprised that Don Cherry didn't gush more about McClement this season, he just added so much to the table, the mix.

And if Lecavellier doesn't sign in Montreal, well, that just sucks. Really does, it would be soooo perfect, but I think deep down he is just not the Maurice Richard type who desires the spotlight and the puck in the last thirty seconds, he wants the golf club and the Ferrari.

Too bad, I wish both Martin St. Louis and Lecavellier and Letang were where they belong, playing pour les habitants.

Won't happen.

Too much politics involved. He would literally have to choose the Leafs over the Habs and as I mentioned, poof goes the popularity and endorsements. He lives in Montreal in the summer, he won't do it.

He signs in Montreal or in the States. I put Montreal at 5% and States at 95%.

politics? what does vinny care?

all about the benjamins.

I think that a guy like this would care about one thing, playing in front of HIS people. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...EA0E01ADAE2EEF5DEA7AEA0E0&first=0&FORM=NVPFVR

Sorry Leaf fans, my second favourite team was the Canadiens, and I was born in Quebec..... And I firmly believe Montreal should have the best two French Canadians playing in Montreal.

I try to watch this video every time I see guys like Obama and Harper on television, its like taking a real good shower.

You're so wrong where Vinny is concerned. He does care, greatly. It's why he loved playing in anonymity. He won't go to Toronto because he'll get the same deal in Montreal. Believe me, I'm willing to bet he doesn't sign in Toronto.

you're willing to bet that he won't sign with 1 specific team out of 30 teams?

how ballsy of you.

People on facebook think Mark Fraser can be a #4 D-man....I think I might have an aneurysm

The same people that will be mad at the Leafs for not drafting Max Domi when some team takes him twelve picks ahead of us and thought his father should have been team captain?

I hate to say it, but I agree with this wholeheartedly. Vincent is probably the closest thing to Jean Beliveau that the province of Quebec has produced since his retirement. It would be unfathomable for him to sign with the icon of Anglophone villainy and cultural antagonism in the Leafs.

I think most Habs fans believe he won't sign in Canada anyway. I surely don't want to overpay for him. Sure he may have an outstanding season in year one but he is not the guy he once was.

Vinny has been known to shy away from the spotlight, I seriously don't see him signing anywhere in Canada.

Lecavalier has had a pretty damn fine overall career all things considered. He hasn't quite been the generational superstar that some affixed him with expectations-wise, but it's difficult to complain about a Stanley Cup title, Rocket Richard Trophy, and World Cup of Hockey MVP. He's also probably two full seasons away from 1,000 career points, and he's always been a good playoff player.

He's been pretty much a quality #1 overall pick in most respects.
