Just wait until they open up their new facility right down the highway. Now that was a rivalry. I think there was a heavy political component to it too: the Nordiques represented the separatist, pure laine Quebecois, while the Habs had a very substantial backing from the Anglophone community and were the federalist team (hell, they are one of the two national Canadian teams).

I think this is rather naive on your part. No other player in probably the last twenty years or so has represented the Great Francophone Hope to Quebecers quite like Vinny, and he doubtless realizes that.
 
I think it's as silly as when Toronto fans talk about every Ontario boy wanting to sign with the Leafs.

It's not the same. Talk to anyone that's grown up in Quebec. The mentality instilled in the "chez nous" is absolutely not the same as someone growing up elsewhere in Canada, this is where you're wrong. You may think it silly but it's very real.

Glad to hear Nonis offered a 2-way contract to Fraser. No fascination about where the journeyman sits in the Leafs D's depth chart there by our GM. And even happier Fraser rejected it.
 
Tyler Seguin is apparently available...not sure why. I'm sure it would cost a boat load but would be nice to get the talented hometown kid we should and could have drafted.
 
Oh yeah, and all the speculation on Clarkson to Toronto ...

WHat about Ryan Clowe? Clarkson or Clowe, which one would you rather have?

Don't want Seguin.

He'll cost an arm and a leg, and he's the same guy that Boston was hesitant to use in a top 6 role during the playoff, and when they had no choice but to finally do that because of injuries, he looked small on the big stage.

Some say he should be a winger, not a center. Some say he's still developing. I think given how overpriced he will be, and he hasn't exactly fulfilled his superstar status thus far in his career, he is not a good buy.

Plus, Chia will NEVER trade him to Toronto. To have Kessel and Seguin flourish in Toronto would be the worst nightmare for BOS.
