Leaf Rumours

You gotta wonder if they're gonna let Homer be in charge of the inevitable makeover that's coming for that team... gotta think his job's on the line pretty soon, he assembled the bulk of that roster.

I feel the same way about MacT and Regier.

Though to be fair to Darcy i like what he got for Pominville and Vanek.

At least Regier has some prior track record of success. MacT on the other hand...well, he never should have been made GM to begin with. I'm actually quite confident that he will be able to effectively waste the majority of Edmonton's young talent and continue to suck indefinitely.

I still don't understand all the Oiler love, their roster is so so flawed. They have a bunch of the same player (i.e. all their recent top picks) - soft, one-dimensional, floating midgets with offensive talent. Then their depth up front is putrid. On D they're just laughable, and in net Dubnyk may be good, but it's sure not looking like he'll ever be great.

Aside from top-10 draft picks, Eberle, and Schultz, the Oilers really have very very little to show for their prolonged sucking. Sadly I doubt they will put an end to the myth behind tanking = success. But it's nice watching them suck at least.

Philly would be stupid to move Giroux. AND if they did, i doubt he'd be coming here barring a massive overpayment.

BTW, i'd move Rielly in a deal for Giroux. No problem. 25 year old PPG Centre, yes please.

Agreed, love Rielly, but love Giroux more

No, it was an assh*le comment for being so certain about it.

I'd move Rielly Bozak + for Giroux.

Not that we need to score more goals, but having Giroux solves our center position for the next decade.

I would never move Rielly for Giroux. Not in a million years.

This year:

Kadri: 14gms, 5gls, 13pts
Giroux: 12gms, 0gls, 6pts

Last year:

Kadri: 48gms, 18gls, 44pts
Giroux: 48gms, 13gls, 47pts

2yrs:

Kadri: 62gms, 23gls, 57pts (82gms, 30gls, 75pts)
Giroux: 60gms, 13gls, 53pts (82gms, 18gls, 72pts)

Age 23:

Kadri: 14gms, 5gls, 13pts (82gms, 29gls, 76pts)
Giroux: 82gms, 25gls, 76pts (82gms, 25gls, 76pts)

Age 22:

Kadri: 48gms, 18gls, 44pts (82gms, 31gls, 75pts)
Giroux: 82gms, 16gls, 47pts (82gms, 16gls, 47pts)

Interesting stats, though they don't tell the entire story.

Giroux has consistently gone up against the toughest competition, as teams structure defense specifically to shut him down. When Kadri proves to be able to handle the top line defenders over the course of a full season those stats may hold more weight.

I love Rielly, but Giroux is a fantastic player who just last season was viewed as a superior all around player to Kessel.

And please don't bombard me with stats to the contrary. I know Kessel is fantastic, having another "Kessel" would be pretty fricken awesome.

Giroux is amazing. Its a tough one though. I don't really want to trade Rielly. I'm partial towards dmen though.

If Rielly is as good as I think he is I'd never trade him. Its not just the skating and the skill, but combined with the hockey IQ. He's already really, really good two way defenseman and he is only 19. He's as can't miss as they come IMO.

All that says to me is you don't want another Kadri.

From 2010 through 2013 (22-24) Giroux was a 86 point player over a 207 game sample stretch....little slow start to this season doesn't mean a whole lot.

All of this said, Philly should be looking to move anyone but Giroux.

They could be in the market for a goalie too....right now they have a Mason and a Boxer

Yeah he was, but he really only had that one "best player in the league type of year". Other than that he's been amazing, but not Stamkos amazing.

If you are getting 2011-12 Giroux its a different story.

All things considered i'd move Kadri for Giroux.

Leaf-homer glasses need to be checked before opening threads.
