Why would Shanny look nervous , the guy has more money than he knows what to do with so he has no worries. It's telling however that you rarely see him and Dubas anymore and how Dubas has stopped waxing philosophically.

Not sure. I could see 50/50 him retiring after the deal. But if not, he may be a $3m ish candidate to play wing.
Obviously health isn’t an issue, but if he gets substantially slower by then, and his effectiveness takes a major hit, not sure he’d want to stick it out. Reminds me of that quote from Gretzky where he said he scored 9 goals in his final season, which would’ve been a good weekend in his prime, so he knew it was time to go. Same thing with Tavares, if he’s nowhere near a PPG guy in a few years, does he want to stick around for scraps to play a minor role or hope to prolong by being on the wing? I love him, hope he’s still effective enough to stay. Time will tell.
