Leafs acquire Matt Murray

I still think something must have happened with the organization and him that they can't trust him.
Maybe the injury was all mental and they were having another Freddie on their hands.

Term is one thing, but I think they didn't like his frail ego.

I don’t think there’s really anything deeper to the situation with Campbell other than the fact that he doesn’t have the track record to justify anything close to the deal Edmonton’s giving him.

The bottom line is that Campbell is a sometimes injury-prone 30 years old with only 142 NHL games to his credit and only one season where he’s hit the 40-game mark. And in that one season, he was the worst starting goalie in the league for months on end.

yeah Soupy is a feel good story and all but the results do not justify the contract he just got.

hell, what did Markstrom get last year, 5 x $6 mill? and that was with a MUCH better track record.

The future is now and the next 7-10 years. Look at Tampa. The Leafs window isn’t closing anytime soon.

cann’t just make reckless decisions and load up on bad contracts. That only shortens the window.
If we lose next year again and we have a new management team we aren't quite like Tampa.

There are really only two positive scenarios.

1) Murray rebounds and lead the Leafs into the second round or beyond
2) Murray gets hurt, goes on LTIR and a real starter falls into the Leafs' lap.

I do like their approach of "we don;t get goalies so we'll just sign all of them."

Murray, Woll, Kellgren, Hildeby, Petruzzeli, McKay all under contract.

Murray 28
Kallgren 26
McKay 25
Woll 24
Petruzelli 23
Hildeby 21

Hildeby definitely stays in Europe for at least 1 more year (or until the season is over).

It'll be interesting to see where McKay is placed. At his age you gotta think they want him on the Marlies.

The other day I mentioned the possibility of Murray on IR and Woll and Kall as the goaltending tandem.

Dubey is goners soon if things don't pick up
I don't know anymore man. Shanny's had one hell of a run. 9 fucking years, not a single shred of real team success but he's still here and damn if he didn't look cool as a cucumber at that last press conference.

I am confident Shanny's reign has been good for the pocketbooks of the shareholders at least.

We’re one win away from flirting with real success every year. One win. Changing management to figure out how to get a 115 point team over the hump makes little sense. If anything, maybe coaching is the problem, and frankly I’d have to fire Keefe for another first round exit. Having that useless PP and playing guys like Babush over Lilly seem like pretty legit indictments.

If Dubie is let go prematurely, we will enter into the dark ages. Count on it.

Leafs making the playoffs every year, improving their regular season finishes and players winning major individual awards that Leafs have never won before takes off heat for sure.

Its not like we are in 18 wheeler territory here.

This is by far the Leafs best management era since Quinn, and longest sustained success since the 70s.
