Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

There aren't many players to compare him to. Most d his age are in the CHL, Europe or NHL because of eligibility rules. So he's in a pretty exclusive club but that's mostly because of the rules that prevent d his age from playing in the AHL than him being the next Bobby Orr.


Regardless though .. impressive as **** and he has #1 upside.
 
What a shitty comment... Guy had a great season, leave it at that. Someone show me how to ignore this guys comments please? Hollowell is a legitiimate prospect in the new world of the NHL. And you dismiss a great season he had. Jon Cooper and the Lightning feed on possible prospects like this.

On a side note, Chris Mueller, having a very quiet, exceptional season in the AHL. 1986 birthday, a veritable grandpa, what does a great season mean for him. Further AHL employment? Guy is putting up great numbers.

Jeremy Bracco may very well win the AHL scoring race. Wouldn't that be something?

I thnk Bracco gives us great leverage with Kapanen, who might turn into a Micheal Nylander on us.

Do I see Kappy as a important player, yes i do, but we don't have a luxury tax plan in the NHL. or we could run rampant like the Boxox or the Yankees.

yeah he's far ahead of dermott as rookies. even what dermott was doing 3yrs ahead of him

Sandin (18): 36gms, 6gls, 23pts (82gms, 14gls, 52pts)
Dermott (21): 28gms, 2gls, 18pts (82gms, 6gls, 52pts)
Dermott (20): 59gms, 5gls, 24pts (82gms, 7gls, 33pts)
Liljegren (18): 44gms, 1gls, 17pts (82gms, 2gls, 32pts)
Liljegren (19): 34gms, 3gls, 12pts (82gms, 8gls, 29pts)

What he's doing is incredible.

And the interesting thing is that he's clearly NHL-ready mind-wise. He has elite, elite hockey sense.

The only argument to keep him down might be physical readiness....but even that argument is pretty weak imo.


They really should call him up.
 
He would be up in most other organizations right now. The only reason to keep him down is development. Its hard to argue with how they've developed players so they have earned the benefit of the doubt.

I don't see any way he wouldn't upgrade the D right now though.

Maybe it would have been if Seattle was starting play in 2020, as originally planned. But with the expansion draft now taking place in the summer of 2021, it's pretty much a given that Sandin/Liljegren will be eligible for it.

To keep them exempt, I'm pretty sure they'd have to stay in the AHL for all of next year & most of the following season.
 
The usual suspects at it for the Marlies tonight.

Rasmus Sandin extended his points streak to eight games (1 goal, 11 assists) with an assist on the OT winner.

Jeremy Bracco had a primary PP assist on the tying goal, to hit the 70 point mark in 65 games.
 
Leafs sign Joseph Woll to a 3-year ELC.

He was a Leaf 3rd round pick in the 2016 draft, and has been the starting goalie for Boston College in the NCAA the past three years.

He could have gone back to the NCAA for his senior season, but it would appear that he'll be turning pro instead. So, this may set up two AHL rookies (Ian Scott & Joseph Woll) sharing the Marlie crease next season, unless one of them gets sent down to be the starter for the Leafs' ECHL affiliate.

It'll be an interesting choice. Forego having some more experienced goalie depth like Hutchinson in the organization next season, or give as much AHL playing time as possible to the two kids?
 
Looks like Rosen also played today. I was under the impression he was still a while away from returning.

Wonder if he gets a call-up before Dermott returns, and/or if Babcock would consider playing him ahead of Ozhiganov & Holl?
 
the AHL lists Bracco as being in first place by a point, and having 72 points. When was the last time a Leaf prospect was first in scoring? Lol, Bruce Boudreau?

Very impressive.
 
I really really like Kapanen, but he might make Kapanen tradeable. Do you think any non playoff team would trade a first for Kapanen? I really don't think any should, but maybe having someone that fast would appeal to small market teams that need a speedster?
 
Doesn't stand in the right spots or eat the right pussy.

But in all seriousness a legit playmaker would go a hell of a long way for their top three pure goal scoring centers. But yeah, will never happen.
 
it would be pretty huge if we can eke one more legit scoring winger from the system. really keeps our forward corps complete going forward.
