Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

With the way he's performing this year, Bracco should obviously be in the lineup now, but he won't be.

I fully expect he'll be on the team next year, though, since there's a bunch of guys on the wing who could potentially get shuffled out (Brown, Marleau, Ennis, one of Kapanen/Johnsson). I suspect Babcock will also respect the way Bracco's gone to work and pretty quickly gone from a part-time player to one of the best players in the AHL, even if he won't love his size.

And really, Bracco is a winger who's tailor-made for a team that currently has three shoot-first centers.

could really help us move kadri if he can make the leap.

Johnsson - Matthews - Bracco
Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Moore - Nylander - Kapanen

The only thing I'll say is his 5 on 5 stats aren't nearly as elite as it may appear. From what i can tell, he is an absolute pp wizard, which isn't a bad thing at all. He plays the marner spot so having him run the second unit and provide playmaking for Matty or nazzy would be an incredible luxury.

On that note, I'd get Willy on the top unit for Kadri. I'd like to see a right handed shot in the slot, which allows the Marner to JT down low play to be much more feasible with a right hand shot in the slot. You run the risk of not using willy enough in that spot, but it's worth a shot.

As much as I'd like to see Willy at center full-time, I still think it's too early to sell-off Kadri with the bargain contract he's on.

I'd also agree that you might be selling low on him.

On top of having trouble adjusting to his new role in the post-Tavares signing world, he's had a constantly rotating cast of characters on his wing this season, and at times he's had to carry some awful linemate combinations. For starters, he's had the rotting corpse of Patrick Marleau on his left wing for almost the entire season.

Brown/Lindholm & Brown/Marleau are also two pairings he spent significant time with, and he had Willy on his wing for pretty much the entire time he was struggling to return to form after ending his contract stalemate. I'd like to see what he looks like after having had this season to adjust, and without constantly having to carry the other guys on his line.

Looks like Joseph Woll has joined the Maple Leafs, instead of the Marlies.

Apparently the Leafs will be burning a year of his ELC, rather than having him join the Marlies on an amateur try-out and start the clock on his contract next season.

Burning a year off the bat could have been an incentive offered by the Leafs (or requested by Woll's camp) to get Woll to sign too. After all, if he'd gone back for his final year of college, he could have become a UFA next summer, so that gives him a little bit of leverage in negotiations.

Dubas sucks..... Not keeping a Bower, in McBackup? A save on Crosby to save the season. Keep your stats. They suck. Dubas sucks..

Woll??? Are u kidding me?

Predictions....... Woll is useless.... So is Dubas... Kawhi Leonard hates Canadian winter... Shit who the heck doesn't

Gariner is gone. Freddy Andersen is a weird guy, he might kill the Bruins or invite them to destroy us... Its all up to to the strange DANE...

Forget Marner, Matthews, they are kids, if Freddy shows up, its a series..

And lets not forget this kid, ander sen was a seventh rounder like Johnnsson.

Imagine if Dubas had let Nylander, just go.........

In a real NHL that would have happened... But it didn't. Never wlll happen.

I thought a player has to play 9 games. How would Woll burn a year off by joining with 5 games left, when he's maybe only going to play once?

First---there's about a 0% chance Woll actually gets into any game action this year. He's just here to practice with and be around the team.

As for how this works CBA-wise, I'm not really sure. But this does consistently seem to be how it works for college kids. Unless you specifically sign them to a future-dated deal like the Leafs did with Duszak, the clock starts on their contract as soon as you sign them. Maybe someone else has the explanation for why this is.

Its because he is 20. Only 18-19 year olds contracts can slide.

Thats why guys like Dudzak sign professional minor league tryouts to end the year, and officially sign the ELC for next year.

crazier still, all those other guys were their teams #1 offensive dman with all the #1 pp minutes. but that's Rosen for the marlies this year. Sandin hasn't even got consistent PP time until recently.

Ras!

Couple of Marlie notes:

Eemeli Rasanen's made his way over from the KHL, and he'll be making his Marlies debut tonight. Sandin & Liljegren are also back together as a pairing for tonight's game.

And no Calle Rosen in the Marlies lineup, with him having played last night and being scheduled to make his season debut with the Leafs on Monday night.
