Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

But that is essentially 3 top picks in a row that are chippy, fast, high floor low upside wingers

They got lucky Robertson ended up showing an elite skill. But they have a type.

I'll stop giving an opinion on a dude I don't know anything about. But yeah a dump and chaser in the USHL doesn't get me excited. But if he pans out that's kind of the perfect complementary player for the big boys. Don't love the low ceiling tho.

Dubas has done well with his 2nd round picks thus far - hard to judge yet.

also, our skills development is off the charts - so maybe they think they can fill in the holes and teach what he has to learn to get to the nhl

I don't know what ushl scoring rates mean but at least it looks like he was the best player on his team....though I don't like that he stagnated offensively this year.

But as an older prospect with an NHL ready body and very good skating, I assume they think he's a guy that can fasttrack to the NHL fairly soon.

I'm expecting dubas to sign a bunch of non-drafted guys they think would have been drafted in a regular year.

Bacon is showing charts for every pick and....this is one of the best charts for any guy drafted in this range (and a bunch of 1st rounders, too).

He had him ranked...13th overall.

Click on his tweetstream to compare.

Also one of the reasons why I don't think he cares about getting a 6th or 7th rounder from Edmonton.

I noticed Hunter Strand when looking at Knies' stats - I also wouldn't be surprised to see the leafs take him if he's available. He's ranked in the 50-100 range for the most part.

The Hockey Prospect Black Book gave Matthew Knies an A grade and ranked him 13th overall on their 2021 Draft Prospect list, calling the 6’3”, 210 lb. winger “a dynamic power forward with one of the most extensive tool kits out of any draft eligible player featured in this class.”

Knies skating is said to be excellent, he scored 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists) in the final 15 games for Tri-City, and he has the size and strength to win puck battles in the defensive zone, as well as possessing the puck in the offensive zone.
