Leafs - Sens - Habs 2013-14

Price definitely deserves to be on Team Canada....but that's not the highest bar in the world.

Still, Price is actually legitamtely putting in a very good well above average season.....for the 2nd time in his career.

On an offensively anemic team. Price has lost 10 games when letting in 2 or fewer goals. 10.

Absolutely inexcusable and why the coach needs firing and forwards revamped.

Love the sample size here.

He probably deserves to be there, based on the internal competition that he has in Canada, but im not sure he should be mentioned with the Rask, Miller, Lundqvist group as elite lock tenders for their nations

You're funny. Miller and Lundqvist have has average seasons before too.

Oh and some of you really don't know what the word "elite" means.

Umm, by definition it does.

e·lite
əˈlēt,āˈlēt/Submit
noun
1.
a group of people considered (by others or themselves) to be the best in a particular society or category, esp. because of their power, talent, or wealth.

Lack of better options means less talented.

Ju Crazie mang
Yikes man.

So I was big enough to concede being wrong about Ryan/Kessel, will Habs fans do the same about their comparison of Subban/Karlsson?

D E.Karlsson (23): 58gms, 15gls, 54pts (82gms, 21gls, 76pts)
D P.K.Subban (24): 58gms, 8gls, 39pts (82gms, 11gls, 55pts)

Specifically, HP was saying their offense wasn't that far off.

Mindz also made a few mentions that if Karlssons offense hovers around PPG (like his Norris season) that he's a perennial contender and any defensive issues he might be perceived to have are off-set.

Looks like he's doing it again.

No actually I never said their offense wasn't far off but rather that last year Subban's offense was similar to Karlsson's offense from his Norris year and also said what Mindz said. If EK can be way ahead of the rest of the league in dman scoring then he can be a Norris candidate/winner.

In fact you've taken umbrage with me repeatedly calling him the best offensive dman in the league and not giving him any credit defensively. So what's changed?

He's still the best offensive dman in the league. Hell, he's 6 points ahead of Keith. But I'd still give Keith the Norris (to this point) over him. He's far better defensively.

Are there really people suggesting Karlsson over Keith this season?

I doubt it - and certainly not me.

And HP, you did claim that the gulf between Karlsson and Subban (offensively) was small. You pegged Subban around 60-65 and Karlsson 65-70.

I would take a defenseman who scores 75 points any day and just deal with the defensive mistakes, for sure.
Without a doubt. Hell I bet I would be higher on him that Cork is right now, if he was a Habs. Spectacular player.

That said, from what the games I've seen I think Karlsson's looked even worse defensively this year.
Yeah he just is not good defensively at all. But still a great player.

I always laugh when habs fans cry about their media bias.
I never hear Hab fans complain about a media bias. They complain about the potatoes in the French media who are haters towards Anglos.

Subban wins a norris for a half season of PP production.
Meh, power play points count too. That said, I didn't expect him to win but I was happy that he did and don't believe it's the farce you guys think it is. He was definitely the highest profile dman last year and I'm sure that helped him win.

Price is worshipped as elite despite rarely being that good.
I've always thought that people were high on Price's potential for the most part... but really, is his reputation any different for the likes of Miller and Ward? Other guys that have only had one or two really good seasons and are still looked at as elite.

Pleks was respected as a legit #1 C for years for some crazy reason.
First I've heard of this. Hell, even the biggest Hab homers think he's a really good 2nd line 2-way centre.

Habsy, go back to bed and try this again in an hour.

You're all over the map here.

I'm really not. You guys aren't understanding what elite is. To claim that a player isn't elite but was chosen for a lack of better options is absolutely contradictory to what the word elite means.

Price was chosen to team Canada because he is one of the top Canadian goalies. WHether someone feels goalies from other countries are better is irrelevant. We are talking about the Olympics.
