Leafs trade for Foligno

I do think it’s way early to close the book on the deadline. I’d actually be surprised if he’s not adding a player of greater impact.

Fuck....Finkle is Einhorn....Einhorn is Finkle

People keep saying this....it's not true. Our best players are incredibly talented, incredibly. World class, as good as anyone. Once you get pas them though it's Hyman (PBUH), Spezza pulling something awesome out of his bag every week or two and then a bunch of guys scoring at the same rate as the creepy guy at the strip club.

We're not a deep offensive club anymore.

The bottom line is teams that win cups have that 4-6 core group leading the way and the quality support pieces around them

If Marner, Matthews , Morgan , JT , Willy and whoever you put in net don’t get the job done and finally play up to expectations .....Foligno or any other support piece won’t make a fuken difference .

But those support pieces like Nick , Hyman , Simmonds , Brodie , Muzzin are solid complimentary pieces
You never had this type of complete lineup ready to compete .

You need a mix of everything and you have it .....there is no excuse this year for underachieving

If Foligno was aquired to replace Kerfoot so they can unload the latter, I'm a big fan.
Yup...that would be the 4D chess there.
A third line with Foligno engvall and mikehyev
Hall with JT and Willy
Hyman on top line. Done and done

I love that people try to keep telling me what teams that win the cup look like, when teams with wildly different compositions win almost every year.

Tampa Bay last year looks next to nothing like the St Louis or Washington team that won.

Pittsburgh won twice with Ron Hainsey on their top pair and Phil Kessel as their 3rd most important player.

Yeah there's no formula to win other than being really good at hockey. That's all media driven narrative nonsense. But I still like the trade and think it improves the team a lot!

I do think they are looking further ahead with the TB lightening as the target.

Er go, they'd be foolish to not get a goalie like Ullmark.

I'd go 1.campbell 2.ullmark 3. Freddie after the end of the season

I really wanted Hall but looking forward to seeing the Blue Jackets former captain in the playoffs for us.

Yeah, another goalie is a must. Love Jack, but we need to be prepared for when he commits ritual suicide for letting in a bad goal in the 2nd round.

I know it can be overblown, but I do think we see some of these desperate vets really put it all on the line to get that elusive cup.

Yikes, talk about an overpay for an old player with no contact after this season. Sure, the Leafs always need defensive help but not at this price. Unless a big piece coming back this way.

Big-time overpay, this wouldn't have been needed if we still had Kadri.

Common denominator never changes on every cup team

Your top players have to be your best players and play up to or exceed expectations

Secondary players need to chip in do their job and a Kontos , “ where the fuk did you come from “ has to emerge

Those teams you mentioned all did it that way in those 3 tiers I mentioned

I really, really want to see us rest Jumbo and Spezza down the stretch man....really.

Both still have impact moments in them that the rest of our depth guys don't really have much of.
