Nothing, just a hunch and maybe trusting mirtle more than I should. And also because the trade they made today conveniently allows them to bring him back. Not sure they needed to include an extra 4th rounder for the double retention otherwise.

Would love for them to do a big dick blockbuster and prove my hunch wrong but I think that's against the odds.

Not necessarily saying it's what I'd do but I do think they're going with Jack-Freddy. And if they acquire another goalie I'm not sure there's a point if he's just backup quality or a hutch upgrade. You're not winning the cup with Anton Forsberg or something. Ullmark makes sense but I'm not sure it's in the cards.

I'm legitimately concerned with the fact that everyone in our media who is so regularly wrong about more or less everything absolutely love this move.

I'm worried that this overlaps with my "18 month lag" theory on the Toronto hockey media. That they eventually come around to the obvious truths in front of them, but it takes 18 months. They're just now coming around to the fact that Freddy is "struggling"....18 months after it was obvious. Welp, I'm concerned that 18 months ago Nick Foligno is exactly what we needed. Today, this Nick Foligno isn't.
