Fingers crossed for the "next time"hmm, when's the last time we diverged positively from the US in a quarter like that?
The Conservative Party of Canada, folks. Good Lord.

Ya and also they parked their trucks on residential streets and in front of private business, idling and blasting their horns all day and night.Any time a protest illegally occupies a chunk of the nation's capital and their stated goal is the removal of a democratically elected sitting prime minister and his government, it is some level of threat to democracy.
They were proposing a transitional government with them, our unelected Senate and the GG running the country. We can laugh about it if we want to, but that's a direct attack on the charter, our democratic institutions, traditions, etc.
The origins of the 2022 truckers clambake was a 2019 anti-climate protest and there was evidence of US financial support, I believe. So, I don’t know about it being “organic”.
I have heard similar stories from people that I know who lived in Ottawa during that time. I didn't know about the flags, though. As a resident of Ottawa, I can confirm the Convoy wasn't a peaceful gathering of like minded folks interested in exercising their democratic right to assemble.
It was a gathering of far-right racist agitators who wanted to overthrow the Canadian government for having the audacity to...check's notes...allow the provincial governments to enforce reasonable healthcare measures during a word wide pandemic.
There were all kinds of stories of the Convoy's actions from Ottawa residents:
All of it was enabled by the provincial and city government (specifically their police departments). The convoy wanted to shut down the federal government (who were all working from home, lol), instead all they did was make life miserable for low to middle income residents downtown Ottawa.
- Blocking off streets
- Running diesel trucks 24/7
- Blowing air horns 24/7
- Waving Nazi and Confederate flags
- Making racist and sexist comments to locals
- Budding in line at the soup kitchens in the Market (it's not socialism when it's for them)
- Threatening to attack anyone who came near them

How bad was it?This deserves ten thumbs up.
Yes I’m still bitter and I’m usually a very forgiving person.
Yikes.Worse than trying to watch the 2026 Blue Jays stumble their way through this season.
