So-Cons and the dairy lobby would have rallied for him again, he probably would have gotten 52-55 percent and stayed on.

Indeed a rough day for Justin

Yeah, I have no doubt he'd have held on to his job like grim death until the convention.

And then once at the convention, if his level of support had been even 0.1% above whatever the minimum threshold was for him to keep his job, he would have declared it as some species of victory and pledged to stay on, just like he did on election night.

How else does someone like Scheer pay for private school?

Seriously though...Scheer was a regular MP from 2004-2011, and pulling down an annual salary of about $170K. Following that, he was Speaker of the House for four years, and then he was Leader of the Official Opposition for a few years after that, and both of those gigs come with a $255K salary. Both jobs also come with other perks, like a rent-free official residence, per diem expenses, office budgets, travel expenses, etc.

So how fucking shady is this guy, or just flat-out bad with money, that he felt the need to steal party funds to supplement his income?

Though I guess if you're a hardcore social conservative with a stay-at-home wife, an earnest belief that pulling out is the only acceptable form of birth control and the resulting ever-increasing litter of children that comes along with all that, things can get pretty expensive in a hurry.

I guess my only question is: What are the odds the Conservatives didn't know about this before the election?

Yeah, kind of seems like a little bit of a "hey, Andy, you know that money you've been taking from the CPC fund? Would be a shame if we revealed what you used it for?"
