But it actually undermines the true role of local government. Rob & Doug used to be classic for this in Rexdale as councillors. They would give out a phone number to their constituents and let them know if they needed pothole repair, to call them (personally!!) and by golly, they would make sure those fat cats at city hall got it done asap! Problem being, there is an actual contact line for pothole repair in Toronto (311) and they prioritize repair based on actual city management factors like how busy the roadway is based off of previous density and traffic flow studies, etc and by most accounts were actually pretty fucking efficient at it. But those 2 muppets would lean on the department and divert resources to prioritize random potholes on Rexdale side streets, then go do a photo op with the road crew and the homeowner that called in.

Transparent pandering that actually makes the city a worse place to live. Ford politics.

As a councillor, whatever, I don't give a damn if they want to do stuff like that. They're responsible for a small area, so whatever.

But as mayor or premier? Come on. Never mind the whole case what was it last year where Douggie was talking about meeting he had with a kid down his block who hated online learning or something so that's when he announced a return to in-person classes? I half expected him to announce that all snow clearing would change to being done on a volunteer basis because someone he met on his escapade complimented on what better job he was doing than the city plows.

If you are going to complain about someone breaking the distracted driving laws you should probably know the laws.
That being said it is probably not a good idea given the weather conditions to be even using a hands free device.

To clarify, that was NOT my tweet and I found it petty to complain about it tbh. I was just kindly showing DP what all the Ford fuss was about.

so I have to say, not a fan of Sid's sports takes. but politically, different story!

his video may have been worth watching.

I'm still not sure what the censorship tweet is about though...

if conducting live video calls while driving is legal, the law is idiotic. common sense wins the day on this one. (I am also still waiting for someone to explain to me how the infotainment systems in new cars are somehow less distracting than a cellphone)

but anyways, agreed that this is not the biggest Dougie problem by any stretch.

I think (and someone can correct me if wrong) at one point a bunch of people had conspiracy theories that the Ford government was censoring him and now allowing that video to appear online. So I think he was saying that he has never been censored so that bit was untrue.

Actually on taking a closer looking it is against the law to be looking at the screen unless it is something related to your driving.

I think it was because breakfast TV posted the clip, then took it down because someone complained, and his RT was when they re-posted it. People were complaining about censorship when they had taken down the clip.

That rant he did a few years back on Tim & Sid when the Leafs blew it in the playoffs (can't remember exactly what year because of course they do it every year) was epic.
