Are any of you ontario folks able to afford gasoline today?

Nope...

Footage of me from this morning

Looking like the Liberal caucus will do what the PM wouldn't.

JWR and Philpott are on borrowed time it appears.

Honestly, the texts that have been released between JWR and Butts paint Raybould in more of a negative light to me than anyone else.

That's not to say that the PMO's handling of this wasn't greasy and incompetent, but this is less about some shining beacon of integrity standing up for the rule of law in Canada than it is about an ambitious politician who was supremely pissed at their boss transferring them out of a plum position that they enjoyed, and who decided to inflict the maximum damage possible on her boss and co-workers once veiled threats and heavy-handedly playing the race card weren't enough to keep her in that position.

The whole thing it overblown. How can you accuse the PMO of overstepping when the AG's office was free to make their own decision, and it was not actually influenced by the PMO?

If she really wanted to **** them she should have made the deal with SNC "under duress".

conservatives overplayed this.

with each leak of recordings and emails, it's clearer that there was nothing corrupt here.

trudeau takes a hit on leadership, and looks weak, but that was the case anyways - and scheer isn't exactly the candidate that can make other candidates look weak.

liberals should work overtime on spinning that the only reason this thing got to where it got was because trudeau was bending over backwards to be accomodating as per his "new approach", rather than just being a weakling.

doug ford must be pissed he can't run in this federal election. now there's a candidate that can take advantage of trudeau looking weak.

I laughed when I read about some in the east having their gas go up to what $1.25 or so? Out here it is already $1.59 this morning. We pay more in BC than anyone else in Canada iirc

Yeah, that was one big takeaway from visiting my brother in BC this summer.

The gas prices in BC are ****ing insane, particularly in Vancouver proper.

My dad's a pretty old school conservative. Talking to him and some of his friends over the weekend and they actually pretty sympathetic to Trudeau in this situation.

Jane Philpott gave a very calm well thought out interview to CBC this morning. From what I heard from her any small bit of sympathy I had for Trudeau has evaporated.

I do have more sympathy for Philpott in this than I do for Raybould.

I don't get the impression as much from her that she's driven mainly by pride and personal ambition.

At the end of the day though, I don't think there are too many political parties or jobs in general out there that wouldn't give you the boot when you resign your senior position in protest, and repeatedly say in public that you have no confidence in your boss or in the rest of your co-workers.

Why Trudeau? This was a caucus push.

After listening to portions of Philpott’s interview I don’t get that impression.

If you listen carefully to caucus members previous comments they all sound like they have been the same just with the word order changed up a bit. The similarity in each members comments is to me quite evident.

Melanie joly came out weeks ago saying put up or shut up, others have voiced talk about being in a "team" and when the recording came out a lot of members were talking about how improper it is to record someone without their knowledge.

The PM and PMO has been largely silent especially with the regional caucus meetings where they were pushing for then to removed from the party.

I heard most of Philpott's interview as well. She is very well spoken, and I have a lot more sympathy for her than Jody.

But at the end of the day, if you cannot express confidence in your leader in our party system, this is what will happen. Rob Oliphant had a good quote about how he often disagrees with the party, and expresses that, but still is overall able to maintain confidence in the government. And, judging by all available reports, this move was driven by the caucus. The taped recording was the straw that broke the camel's back; it really made JWR seem like she had her own agenda in all this.

Of course, there is also the fact that Philpott and JWR were actively and deliberately undermining Trudeau's (and the rest of caucus') reelection chances too.
