Right now, it is former Brampton mayor Bonnie Crombie. They are already recycling the Justin Trudeau adsWho are the Ontario Liberals going to run against Ford? Freeland? I don't see anyone out there who is both a well-known Liberal and not loathed due to a connection with Trudeau.
Crombie. And they're already gaining ground in the polls.Who are the Ontario Liberals going to run against Ford? Freeland? I don't see anyone out there who is both a well-known Liberal and not loathed due to a connection with Trudeau.

Someone told her, finally, about the entry fee...Christy Clark drops out of the race. Heartbroken.
Doug wants to run before pp for that reason. Vote splitting aside, Once pp is in power he won’t be able to be populist Doug anymore. What happens in Ontario is going to be really interesting. If DoFo calls an election to get his "mandate" to deal with Trump tariffs, and squeaks out another one, I think that hurts PP given Ontario's history of going Liberal-Fed, Con-Provincial and vice versa.
And that's probably the best case scenario, given that DoFo is just an old school Con dabbling in corruption. Far less dangerous than a Maple MAGA Prime Minister. So I kind of hope we get a provincial election first.
Of course outside influence is the big wild card and might buck the trend. Or a Liberal provincial win might seal the deal for a PP majority.

Ontario has elected a majority for the Liberals previously with a female as leader, so it isn't out of the question...Alberta is special and Doug ran against a serial child molester with no eye brows last election.
I don't think we're too far gone to prefer competency yet.
Doug didn't pick up many new votes this time around, mostly, it was the Liberal voter sat out,Fwiw, where Dougie is vulnerable in Ontario vs Crombie is the 905. Dougie took 24 of 25 seats in the 905 in the last election with 47% of the vote and took 12 seats inside Toronto with 32% of the vote. The most reason poll has Dougie down to 37% in the 905, and 27% in Toronto. If Crombie can't turn the 905 into a knife fight considering her history there, well, she's not worth very fucking much, is she?
Dougie is obviously the favourite, but just like the federal situation, even clawing this back to a minority would be a pretty big win and it's definitely possible.
But what about the Punish Incumbents itch?
