New Canadian Politics Thread

Gotta be DEI. So many damn air incidents with US planes since they purged the FAA who woulda thought.

We went to a new resort after 3 more hours at the airport. Heading back there in an hour for a flight, supposedly.

So weird how it goes from, to my untrained eye, looking like a totally normal landing to the plane flipping over and catching on fire in a split second.

Did the landing gear collapse maybe?

If you look at it closely it looks like it was leaning right the whole time and to me eye it looks like the wing his the ground almost at the same time as the wheels.

It definitely seemed to come in hard, and then right when it touched down you could see the wings/engine just burst.

The best guesses are that there were some cross-winds or possibly a windshear near landing. Whether the gear failed, or it just came hard, or rocked due to the wind, hard to say obviously just off a few camera angles.

Still crazy that only a few people were hurt in it, accidents like that can easily be catastrophic losses of life.

I have seen some chats reposted from pilots saying that is totally pilot error. Came in way to hard, almost like a carrier landing. No flare, improper flap setting, etc. Obviously the amount of armchair forensic analysis will be stupid this soon after the crash.

That's my layperson take on it. that plane looked like it came in hot and didn't pull his nose up much at all.

"Women drivers, amirite? Can't parallel park, can't drive a stick, can't land a plane"

I think we can all agree that if the pilot was a woman or a minority, it was obviously their fault and the result of DEI. Whereas if the pilot was an unremarkable middle-aged white male with a bad attitude, it was almost certainly some sort of mechanical failure.
Especially if the tower controller was a woman who was nagging the pilot that his right wing was too low.

Canada will get blamed, no doubt.

Fwiw, that same Mainsteam poll, when Carney's name is removed and it's just "insert Liberal here", has the Conservatives up 39-36.

With Gould as Leader: 40-33
With Dhalla as Leader: 41-29
With Freeland as Leader: 40-34
With Carney as Leader: 37-40
