I’m definitely of the opinion that, rather than rolling tanks across the border and/or declaring all of Canada to be US territory in one shot, Trump could very well just start taking multiple nibbles out of Canadian territory after unilaterally declaring changes to the border.

And one of the places he could start is with the current Canada/US border that neatly divides Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron & Lake Superior. Could definitely see him wake up one morning and declare that those lakes are entirely US territory now (and that furthermore, “Lake Ontario” will now be known as “Lake America”).

Or he could go a less dramatic but also harmful route and ignore all water management agreements currently in place and start taking however much water he feels like from the Great Lakes for America’s use.

I’m expecting something similar to the playbook in Donetsk and Luhansk at some point - all of a sudden we’ll see the ‘Southern Alberta independence movement’ start, or something like that.

That, and repeated violations of negotiated agreements (ie water management in the Great Lakes)
