New Canadian Politics Thread

If Trump had mostly ignored Canada’s existence after taking office, maybe there might have been a path for PP to the PMO that allowed him to successfully appeal to a critical mass of normal Canadians while still dog-whistling to the Maple MAGA carnies at the same time and keeping them happy.

But looks like Pierre might’ve finally and very reluctantly come to the conclusion that it’s simply impossible to straddle that line anymore, so he’s chucking that portion of his base overboard and hoping for the best.

It was his personal kobyashi maru, an unwinnable situation where 50% of conservatives wanted to roll over for Trump and 50% considered that 50% to be treason monkeys. It took him 2 months to realize that he could lose a fuckton of his western base and still win every fucking seat out there. It shows what he actually believes in that it has to cost him this much for his position to get pushed to where it is today. The best part is that he isn't fooling anyone, and he hasn't earned anyone's trust since this started.

They based their entire identities on their hatred of this one individual and come Sunday evening they won't know whether to shit or wind their watches. And now, in order to be an actual Canadian patriot, they have to hate Trump, and that feels wrong to them too.

Canada outlaws another 179 types of firearms, announces classification review

The Liberal government has outlawed another 179 firearm varieties, adding to the list of prohibited guns it considers too dangerous for use by hunters or sport shooters.

Would be nice if Canada could come up with some sort of manufacturing agreement with China over cars. Like it's made in Canada with some pre work done in China, maybe with some mods in their designs. Something to make both sides happy, give us some independence from U and flood the Market with practical, cheap electrics.
Would be hard to get China and unions onboard though, just a pipe dream.
