New Canadian Politics Thread

If Canadian forces' XWCF% (expected war-crimes for percentage) was elite when we were fighting in foreign wars, just imagine the war-criming we'll get up to if we're forced to fight a foreign invader on home soil.

The New York Times first reported the conversation about the Columbia River and said the President expressed a desire to tear up Great Lakes agreements between the countries.

The Globe’s source said the Great Lakes were never raised during the call.

Mr. Trump’s criticisms land at an already uncertain time for the landmark Columbia River Treaty, after renegotiation efforts stalled out toward the end of the Biden administration.

Don’t know if it has been discussed here, but China is also slapping tariffs on Canada, in response to the 100% surtax we’ve put on Chinese EVs and a few other products over the last few months.

To China’s credit, they are responding to something we did first, they appear to have left some room for negotiation before their tariffs come into effect, and they are not linking their tariffs to a fake drug problem or threatening to annex us or destroy us, despite having a much bigger economy, military, and population.

I think this helps put into perspective just how fucked up Trump’s attack on Canada is.

Would be nice if we could come to some kind of compromise that removes tariffs on Chinese EV’s if enough of the manufacturing of the cars sold in the Canadian market is moved to Canada.

Another echo of Russia in the build-up to their invasion of Ukraine.

Ukraine supposedly had secret bio-weapon labs specifically targeting Russia, as per Russian state propaganda.

Now US state propaganda is saying Canada has secret government-sanctioned Fentanyl labs, for the purpose of flooding the USA with drugs.

Just steadily building the bullshit case for a war of conquest in their supporters minds.
