Conscription is near useless in modern warfare.
Offering volunteer training that includes training on small FPV drone systems though, intelligence gathering, sabotage, etc, etc. Massively valuable. Dragging a bunch of 21 yr olds away from doing something useful to learn how to clean a carbine and dig a fox hole though?

This is really an astonishing statement. Hard to stop watching.
Aside from the trade stuff, the fact that the era of “security and military cooperation” is over is, frankly, pretty terrifying. Carney would not say something like that lightly.

Carney all ready hit them with the okey doke on that Australian radar system purchase, which puts us in a position to not need American support for early warning ever again. Add in some missile defence batteries (Europe has 1-2 that are competitors to the Patriot...maybe not quite as good but very close and half the cost) in the north, a bit of a hybrid 4.5 and 5th gen figher fleet and new subs and the arctic is about as protected as we're capable of.
Aside from protecting the arctic, I'm not sure what the Americans do for us that geography doesn't do the heavy lifting on.
